Master class for teachers “Creating cartoons in kindergarten”

Goal: familiarization with the process of creating cartoons with children using various techniques.

1) introduce master class participants to the stages of creating a cartoon ;

2) master the technique of creating cartoons with your own hands in kindergarten using available technical means (document camera, laptop)

;

3) show the sequence of work on editing a film in the computer program for video editing Windows Movie Maker.

During the master class, participants :

— plunge into the creative process of creating animation products;

- learn how cartoon ;

— get acquainted with various ways of creating a cartoon (drawing, LEGO “Build Your Own Story”

, planar magnetic constructor, plasticine, applique, object animation);

"revive"

your work by making a small
cartoon ;
Equipment and materials: memo “How to use Windows Movie Maker”

, document camera, printed characters from the fairy tale
“Ryaba Hen”
, computer.

Progress of the master class:

Dear Colleagues! Do you think your children like cartoons ? Why do all children love cartoons ?

Of course, cartoons are colorful . Watching animated films is fascinating and captures the child’s full attention. And creating a cartoon is a fascinating and interesting process.

The technique of creating cartoons is called Stop Motion animation (stop motion, stop motion)

.

Slide 2. A little history.

At the end of the 19th century, French inventor Emile Raynaud came up with the idea of a projector. At the beginning of the 20th century, the movie camera was invented and the first cartoon . At first, cartoons were black and white and silent.

.
The first cartoon with sound was made by U. Disney. It was the cartoon “Steamboat Willie”
Slide 3. Disney is considered to be the father of animation , his work deserves a separate story, because only the Oscar

he received 30 times. His experience is still used as a basis today.

Slide 4. In 1912, the first puppet cartoon . All roles in it were played by dried insects - beetles, ants, dragonflies.

Slide 5. In our country, animation is closely connected with the opening of the largest film studio in the USSR , Soyuzmultfilm .

in 1936,
masterpieces of animation were created .
These cartoons are loved not only by children, but also by you and me, adults. I immediately remember my childhood , the voices of the actors voicing these cartoons are well known to us .

Slide 7, 8,9. And I suggest you guess by the voices of the actors who voiced the cartoon and say the name of the cartoon .

There are several technologies for creating cartoons .

Slide 10. Cartoon - a drawing is created through a variety of drawings that convey the effect of the character’s movement.

Slide 11. A plasticine cartoon is created using figures sculpted from plasticine.

Slide 12. Cartoon - origami can be made by reviving characters constructed from paper.

Slide 13. In the cartoon - appliqué, the heroes are figures made using the appliqué technique.

Another technology for creating a cartoon is sand animation , which requires special equipment.

Slide 14. Computer animation is a type of animation created using a computer .

Slide 15. Involving preschoolers in active joint activities with the teacher to create cartoons of their own production has powerful potential:

development of cognitive interest;

manifestation of emotional responsiveness, the ability to express one’s feelings through art;

development of thinking, imagination;

development of personal qualities: independence, initiative, mutual assistance, involvement in a common cause, responsibility, respect for each other, self-esteem;

development of communication skills;

development of fine motor skills of the hands.

The process of creating a cartoon has stages .

Slide 16. Stages of creating a cartoon :

1. Thinking through the concept - we think about why, for what purpose the cartoon is being created , in what technique, what we want to tell the viewer, drawing up a script.

2. Next, drawing up a script - the author’s or based on works of fiction.

3. Preparing the background and creating characters - depending on the animation you and your children have chosen.

5. Installation work. The characters were created and filmed. Let's start editing the cartoon

6. Select music or record audio on your existing technical device.

Creating titles . In the credits you can not only indicate the names of teachers and children - the creators of the m/f , but also include video or photo materials from the very process of creating the m/f .

Today you will see that each of us can do this!

Slide 17: There are some secrets to success when creating a cartoon , here are some of them:

• When shooting, the foreground is open, nothing blocks the characters;

• Static objects (background)

motionless in the frame, it is also not recommended to move the tripod;

• You can change the position of the scenery - trees swayed, leaves fell from them, etc.;

• No foreign objects should enter the frame (shadows, animators’ hands, unless this is intended according to the director’s plan;

• While recording sound in the “studio”

there must be absolute silence.

Sound effects are welcome (door creaking, dog barking, sound of the sea)

.

So, let's start shooting our cartoon .

I propose to make a cartoon based on the Russian folk tale “Ryaba Hen”

, I prepared the fairy tale characters, background and workplace.
To create cartoon frames, I need five teachers . (Use of badges)
First teacher - role of “photographer”

second teacher – role of “mouse”

,

third teacher - the role of “grandfather”

,

fourth – the role of “baba”

,

First of all, take 2-3 frames of an empty background. Then we should have characters. The character appears from the very edge of the frame and moves approximately 1 cm.

Timing: usually 4-6 fps

Accordingly, at a speed of 6 frames per second, for a minute of film you need to take 240 photos.

Slide 18: I used Windows Movie Maker create

Slide 19. We open “Import images” and “Import sound and music” in turn - in both cases we take files from our prepared folder. I used the audio fairy tale “Ryaba Hen”

.
Now our photos and music are in the program window. Next, we follow the instructions in the memo that I will distribute to you, and we get a cartoon .
Slide 20. Watching a cartoon .

Slide 21. Reflection: On the table near the easel there are images of emoticons. Please choose an emoticon according to the criteria that you see on the screen and paste it on the poster.

Slide 22. Bibliography.

Slide 23. Thank you for your attention.

Cartoon project based on the works of Ivan Efremov

Taina Dan, biochemist I wrote earlier about the evolutionist concept of Ivan Efremov. It is surprising that the ideas of the scientist and writer about beauty as the highest expediency did not receive due attention from the fine arts, where, it would seem, there is a place for their embodiment. Some attempts of Soviet cinema to reflect the work of Ivan Efremov do not stand up to competition with the implementation of fantastic stories made in the West at the modern technological level (Star Wars, the animated series Love, Death and Robots, etc.). Entire youth subcultures arise around Japanese anime-style creations. All the more unfortunate against this background is the corresponding failure in the field of domestic animation and science fiction. And space is not at all in fashion now... However, people who dream of correcting the situation exist, and the reader is invited to an interview with just such a group of like-minded people. Vyacheslav and Alexandra Ilyaev are working on an animation project based on the works of Ivan Efremov “The Andromeda Nebula” and “The Heart of the Snake”. The image of the dancing girl above is their creation of Taina Dan, the biochemist of the starship Tantra.

“There is only one real path into space - from an excess of strength, from an organized planet to the search for brothers in reason and culture. And for this, a person must stand firmly on the Earth with both feet, remaking it with joyful work and becoming richer and stronger spiritually.”

Ivan Efremov "The Razor's Edge"

The eyes of my interlocutors, the artists, radiate kindness and burn with enthusiasm. The interview with them turned out to be one of the most enjoyable in my life.

– Slava, what is your 37th star project?

– Thank you that our project has interested you so much and arouses the attention of science fiction fans and not only science fiction fans.

As you said earlier, our project was conceived as an artistic and animated embodiment of the world and images of Ivan Efremov’s creativity. Animation as a genre and form of expression is very similar to science fiction literature in that both here and there the artist (writer) or group of authors themselves construct and fantasize the world that they want to open to man, his contemporary. Also, animation (unlike feature films), like a book written for the reader, leaves the viewer freedom for his personal imagination, for further fantasy of what he saw, which is important for the continuation of the life of the images and heroes of the work in the thoughts and feelings of every caring viewer. That's why we chose this form of expression. The film or series (we are also still thinking about this) will combine the established traditions of classical animation with long-modern three-dimensional digital technologies.

– At what stage of development is the project currently?

– Now is the most responsible and painstaking stage, preparatory and conceptual, and there are a number of areas: 1. We are working on the characters’ images, on their physical and emotional state at various key points in the scenario 2. On the technical sphere of spacecraft and their motion dynamics 3 Above the image of the “iron star” planet and its inhabitants.

– Sasha, how did you come up with the idea to create a cartoon based on Efremov’s works?

– Ivan Efremov is one of the important and favorite writers for me. In a friendly circle with people close to me in spirit, we have more than once discussed with great enthusiasm the world and images of Efremov’s heroes and shared thoughts and impressions about the facets of the future of our humanity that he built. In one of these meetings with friends, my friends and I had the idea to create an artistic and animated work.

– What happened then?

– As expected, we need to start with the script.:) The author of the idea for the script was the historian, archaeologist Oleg Dvurechensky, it was he who proposed combining separately selected plot and semantic lines from two works by Ivan Efremov into one coherent script. The development and writing of the artistic script was undertaken by director Alexandra Fidarova.

At the same time, Vyacheslav and I began to work closely on the search, development and embodiment in the drawing of the images of heroes, the crew of earthlings and the crew of an extraterrestrial civilization.

And the sculptor Alexander Gorokhov took on the construction of spaceships, and indeed construction, since everything must be scientifically and engineeringly thought out.

– It has now become clear that technology is developing in a slightly different way than expected in the 60s. Will the technological environment be modernized in accordance with the latest advances?

Starship Tantra

– We have had and continue to discuss this, studying both the technological level of the last century and the modern one. Yes, of course it will be modernized, and we also have every opportunity to come up with the technology of the future.

– What difficulties has the project encountered at this stage?

– There are many difficulties, no matter how trivial it may sound.:) Because, delving deeper into a project, you discover more and more new planes of artistic and visual implementation, inextricably linked with the study of scientific material. But one of the main difficulties is to achieve convincing images for the viewer. To ensure that the viewer feels and admires the people of the future, their special attitude towards each other, towards humanity, towards the universe. This is the most difficult thing that faces us, how to show it in artistic and plastic language.

– Tell us a little about yourself.

– Vyacheslav and I are artists, we work in the genre of social realism, both in graphics and painting.

– What do you think the implementation of the project under discussion will bring to people?

I think and believe that this will give inspiration and understanding that the future is man-made, how we imagine it and what kind of structure of society and human relationships we are building now, we will come to such a future. And, of course, admiration for the beauty of a person in all its facets.

– What would you like to tell our readers finally?

– Dream, create and implement what will advance a person and humanity as a whole.

We will be glad to see everyone who wants to help the project with creative, scientific, technical knowledge and strength.

***

As you understand, at this stage the project requires the help of enthusiasts: we need artists, programmers, animators, designers, screenwriters, composers, sponsors. Those who want to help the project can join the group on VK or write by email. Together we can do this!

“I see many women and men who were looking for light in a narrow, poor life, kind enough to help others, and strong enough not to become embittered in the moral stuffiness of the world around them. And brave, insanely brave! Their future is our present." .

Words by the heroine of “The Andromeda Nebula” by I. Efremov.

Making cartoons with your own hands

All children love cartoons

but not all children know that they can

make cartoons YOURSELF. »

Yes, yes, we will not talk about computer technology or complex programs. All we may need is plasticine, colored paper, toys or... ourselves! The technique is called stop motion.

First, decide which material will be easier and more interesting for your child to work with. Some people like to sculpt, others like to cut colored paper, others only respect cars or include their favorite pony in any game. In general, the process and the result should captivate the child.

So, what kind of cartoons are made with your own hands?

You can draw and cut out characters from paper and transfer them. Here is a wonderful paper cartoon, which was also created by children. There were a lot of children here, adults too, and a lot of time was spent on installation and processing, don’t be alarmed, but the principle of translation is clear.

Here is a subject cartoon based on the fairy tale about a mouse by our wonderful storyteller Maria Shkurina

And the inspiration for me was the cartoon by Maria Druzhinina. Just look at this coming out of the closet and turning people into things.

After you choose the material that will be easiest and most convenient for you to work with, you need to think through the script and scenery. You can make a cartoon based on a fictional plot, play on a famous fairy tale or poem, or repeat a series of your favorite cartoon in your own way. In any case, you should imagine what “scenes” will be there, what the characters will do and what decorations will be needed.

It is, of course, better to create the scenery and characters together with the children. In general, the more they take part in the process, the better. For them, this is a great experience of creating magic with their own hands.

Now let's move on to the technical aspects.

I collected cartoons in two programs:

(this program is suitable not only for assembling cartoons, but also for processing a video, let’s say you’re filming on your phone, suddenly you decide to make a cut about children, trim the beginning/end of the video, flip it, add music or something else) ... In In general, in any case, I recommend trying it. There you can immediately read what the program can do (below the download button there are “more details” buttons under the sections.

Everything is quite clear and simple, at the intuitive level of the Office.

1.2. Pinnacle Studio 18, I downloaded it from torrents, so I can’t give you a link, it’s paid, it’s more complicated than Film Studio, but this is, so to speak, a guarantee for the future, I really want to thoroughly understand such a program. If it suddenly happens that you have it, then write, I’ll help you navigate.

Oh, this stopped me for a long time; I looked at cartoons with children’s voice acting and was envious. I thought I needed to come up with something big. Until I realized it - PHONE.

At maximum quality, it records sound in wav format, which, if necessary, can be converted to any format (there are free online services, if necessary), but in general, then just transfer all the recordings from your phone to your computer and paste them into the cartoon in the program (it’s sooooo easy ).

The only thing is that when recording, you should not write down everything in one fell swoop, but divide the task for the child into short segments, which will then be easier to manage, this is one, and secondly, it is easier for the child to write down several passages of a small text than all at once. Let's say a poem about penguins is divided into 5 (.) segments. Those. They repeated the first quatrain - they wrote it down, they repeated the second - they started to write it down, I stumbled, nothing, again, but every piece was more or less clean, if only Nikita and the dogs had not made noise :)))

Now the children play around with the recorder themselves, turn it on, record themselves or listen, I just looked - 26 recordings)) I need to listen, in case something from what they recorded is useful, for example, for the background to their own photo. :)))

A tripod will be very useful. Perhaps it’s not you, but your friends/acquaintances, ask for it for a couple of days. I don’t just attach the camera to my tripod, but wrap it tightly with electrical tape so as not to accidentally move it. (Photo of the filming process of the cartoon about the Little Sorceress.")

The camera can be firmly mounted on the edge of a table, for example, or a chair. Closer to the point, I might try to demonstrate (buy masking tape). The only thing is that then you need to strictly decide on the choice of “site”. where the plot will take place... If the cartoon will have a paper crossbar, then it would be good to choose a table so that it stands against the wall, so that the background sheet can be fixed opposite on the wall...

This is how, for example, Anna Usova got out of the situation. She made a hole in the box for a camera, and filmed her first paper cartoon on her phone.

A lot of. The bigger, the better. The fact is that the camera may still lose focus (if you take photographs in automatic mode). And then the frames will “jump” or appear blurry when viewed on a computer.

In general, the standard (I chose for myself) calculation: 6 frames per second. For example, for a video about the Little Sorceress it took more than 300 photos, but the cartoon turned out to be less than a minute :))) In total, about 450 photos were taken for the cartoon, but not all of them were suitable.

For the cartoon about charging penguins, much fewer photographs were taken, but there were also fewer frames per second, 4 frames per second, if I’m not mistaken. the fact is that it is very difficult for small plasticine characters to change and come up with many, many movements :)) There was another difficulty here: the sound sequence is not music, but a poem. which my daughter told into a tape recorder. Therefore, first I looked at how many seconds each section of the poem had, then I scattered the photographs into folders and calculated the required number for the timing. Now I will be smarter and before shooting I will record a sound track, calculate it and estimate the number of photos and will take them with a reserve :)))))))

In conclusion, I want to say that homemade cartoons are a miracle for children of any age. Even many, many photographs, even if they are not processed in a program, but simply clicked left and right, bring children so much joy. Well, if they participated in the process, they know “where the legs come from” and what it came from, and then they see the result - this is a big, no, Big small step of a Man who knows how to make his dreams and ideas come true.

Not only am I interested in homemade cartoons, but I also try very hard to inspire others to do this :))) Now I’m actively supplying my daughter’s theater teacher with links to children’s cartoons, we’re discussing options with her, and maybe next year we’ll make a couple of cartoons with the kids :))) It will be very interesting!

I have already talked about homemade cartoons and this really inspired some mothers to “feat”! Just look!

Write your questions in the comments to this article, I will be happy to answer and help. The theme is very cool.

Project “Cartoons: what is it?”

  • March 26, 2011

Competition "Children's Research Project"
Nomination "Aesthetic Cycle"

I, like all children, really love watching cartoons. I can’t even count the number of cartoons I’ve watched. And it seemed that I knew everything about them... But one day, after another viewing of my favorite “SonixX”, I thought: what are cartoons? I asked my classmates, but they also found it difficult to answer...

First I went to the library, where I read in the dictionary that cartoons, a cartoon, an animated film, an animation are all the same thing... this is what animation is called in our cinema, translated from Latin it means “soul”, “animation” or “revival” "

I looked for information about cartoons from various sources: books, the Internet, educational television programs.

I became very interested and wanted to try myself as an animator. The plot of my cartoon is simple: a plot about a multibot dance competition. For a long time I couldn’t decide what kind of main character would be: drawn, plasticine, puppet or computer. And I decided to make three completely different heroes: Rissundo, Plastillinius and Robo.

Lighting fixtures are included. The camera is charged. The filming process has begun. More than 2 thousand frames were shot for our five-minute cartoon. After all, in order for the character’s movement to seem smooth, a very fast frame change is required - 24-30 per second!

The resulting images were processed on a computer using a special program, where frame changes occurred at a certain speed. Musical accompaniment was selected. Voices were recorded and overlaid onto audio tracks... Titles were drawn up.

And now my own cartoon is ready! I was a screenwriter, a director, an animator, a graphic artist, a designer, an announcer, a sound engineer, a video and photo operator, and even a producer... Oh, and it’s not an easy job to make cartoons... How it turned out is up to you to judge. And now I know exactly what a cartoon is. Cartoon is talent and creativity, hard work of people and a very interesting activity!

A survey among classmates revealed the following: just like me, all the kids in my class really love watching cartoons, devoting 15 minutes to 2 hours to this activity every day, but just like me, they don’t know what cartoons are and have difficulty giving a description favorite cartoon (0 – 1 sign).

As the survey in the ascertaining experiment showed, the most beloved and popular animated films among classmates are hand-drawn cartoons of foreign production - 100% (“Spider-Man” for boys; “Winx Club” for girls).

I obtained information about the origin, history of development and production technologies of animated films from various sources (books, dictionaries, educational television programs, videos, the Internet). Personally, during the research alone, I watched about 40 animated films of various content. I defined cartoons as a special type of film art created by animators who use various materials and techniques to create characters, and “animation” occurs through rapid changes of frames.

Various classifications of cartoons were created: according to production technology; goals and objectives; by duration; according to age criteria and interests; by nationality (producing countries)

Using the classification of cartoon production technology, 3 characters were chosen to create our own cartoon at home: plasticine, puppet and hand-drawn. An assembly table was made from scrap materials, and the whole family made the scenery and the main characters.

The plot is simple: Cheburashka's TV report from the intergalactic dance competition of multibots, taking place at our gymnasium, where 3 finalists (Robo, Plastillinius and Rissundo) demonstrate their dancing skills to fiery ri. To create a 5-minute cartoon, it took more than 2 thousand photo frames, which were then edited in a video editor at a certain speed (0.03 s).

After introducing the guys to the project and showing the cartoon, he suggested comparing and evaluating the main characters. Most of all, the kids liked the plasticine hero Plastilinius (53%), Rissundo scored 28%, and the puppet hero Robo 19%! Indeed, the lowest cost, excellent plasticity and visual effectiveness were noted for the plasticine hero, but he easily deformed after each trick and “melted before our eyes” from the heat of the lighting lamps, getting his hands dirty. The puppet hero was more durable, but limited in movements and the ability to perform various tricks.

Creating a hand-drawn character seemed to me the most difficult, painstaking and costly, provided that I used the simplest hand-drawn animation technology - the “overlay” method! It requires special creative and professional skills to draw not only objects, but also the movement of objects, moving objects in space and great patience.

At the defense of the project, I introduced the children to the classifications of cartoons that I had developed, which were presented in the form of reminders. Thanks to this, the guys were able to easily characterize any cartoon. This is also evidenced by a control survey: 89% of children were able to define animation and characterize their favorite cartoon based on 3-5 characteristics (86%).

The knowledge gained during project activities helps me treat animated films with even greater interest, analyze, compare, classify... In the future, I would like to continue researching technologies for creating animated films, for example, master computer 2-D and 3-D animation and, perhaps , create a new cartoon.
